Daring to Follow Your Dreams

In a world that’s constantly changing, where new paths open up every day, it’s becoming more possible – and more important – to dare to follow your dreams. Whether that dream is to live off your art, start your own business, or simply find a freer life, it all begins with the courage to dream.

The first step is allowing yourself to think bigger than what you were taught. Many of us grew up with a fairly traditional view of what a “real job” is – it should be well-paid, contribute to society, be stable, and ideally be something you “put up with” during the week just to long for the weekend. But the world isn’t what it used to be. Technology and digital tools have made it possible to carve out your own path – to work remotely, build your own platform, or turn something creative into your livelihood. Living outside the box is no longer strange. Not everyone needs the same life plan – and that’s not a problem, it’s a strength. Dare to dream big – even if it feels unfamiliar.

Following your dreams doesn’t mean making reckless decisions or jumping blindly. It means learning to trust your intuition. Your gut feeling. Only you know what feels right for you – and every life looks different. So of course, our dreams will too. Just because your dream doesn’t look like your friends’, your parents’, or what society expects of you, doesn’t mean it’s the wrong one. Trust that your path matters, even if it’s unconventional.

And here’s something important to remember: dreams don’t have to begin with something big or clear. They’re allowed to grow slowly. Often, they grow in silence – in that little window after work, in the hours you spend creating something that hasn’t yet given anything back, in a feeling that just won’t go away. It’s not always the big leaps that matter most, but the persistence in small steps. Starting a tiny record label on a small island might seem insignificant in someone else’s eyes – but to you, it might be the beginning of everything.

Most importantly – dreams are allowed to change. I know this because I’ve lived it. For those of you who’ve listened to our All:Ambient Podcast episode, you might know that I grew up as an elite athlete in hammer throw. For over ten years, my biggest dream was to compete in the Olympics and represent Sweden. That was my identity, my drive, my goal. But when I stopped doing athletics, that identity disappeared – and I didn’t have a backup dream. I felt lost for years.

It wasn’t until I met Max and we started making ambient music together that something new began to grow. We realized that our shared dream wasn’t about performance – it was about freedom. The freedom to be creative, to travel, to work with something that felt meaningful. To build something of our own – in both our work and our personal life. It was scary, especially for me since I didn’t even know how to produce music. But I did it anyway. And that’s what daring to follow your dreams is all about – it should be just scary enough to almost make you turn back. That’s when you grow. That’s when you inch closer to your dream, whatever it may be.

And in the end – you don’t need everything to begin. You don’t need perfect conditions, loads of money, or total control. If you have your health, your heart, and at least one person who believes in you – then you already have more than enough. You’re already rich in all the ways that count.

And maybe that’s the heart of it: daring to follow your dreams.
Everyone can dream – but few dare to truly follow their dreams.
Don’t be one of the ones who doesn’t.
